This cornbread recipe is the perfect side dish to almost any main course it meets – from bbq meats and baked beans to soup, southern baked beans, leftoers, and more! We’ve tried a lot of variations on this recipe, but this best cornbread recipe is perfect every time and always the first to be gone! Our homemade cornbread has little pieces of corn, so you know it is straight from momma kitchen with good ingredients you can trust instead of boxed mixes with artificial nonsense! To whip up a batch of this delicious cornbread, all you need are a few simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen pantry!
- yellow cornmeal
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- white sugar
- salt
- canned creamed corn
- butter
- eggs,
- milk
Southern Cornbread Recipe
This recipe is so easy, it’s like a box corn bread recipe —- except that the ingredients are real food you can pronounce and would eat individually! First, preheat your oven to 400 F. Then start adding all your dry ingredients to a bowl and set aside:
- 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour (we use organice)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt

Now, in a new bowl, mix together all the wet ingredients:
- 1 cup canned creamed corn
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cups milk

Mix wet and dry ingredients just until combined. Don’t overmix! Pour the batter in a greased square pan.
Creamed corn cornbread recipe
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is light golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Don’t overbake or it will start ot crack and get dry. Cool for 5-15 minutes before cutting.
HINT: You can pour batter into prepared muffin tins and bake for 10-15 minutes for individual servings if you prefer.

Moist, Homemade Cornbread Recipe
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup canned, cream corn
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 F.
- Mix the dry ingredients: cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. Now mix together all the wet ingredients in a seperate bowl: creamed corn, melted butter, eggs, and milk.
- Mix together the dry and wet ingredients just until combined; don't overmix!
- Pour into a buttered or sprayed square baking dish and put in the oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until top is set and toothpick comes out clean. Don't overbake.
- Cool 5 minutes, cut into slices, and serve warm with butter and honey.
