Last year my husband found a new-in-box pasta maker attachment for a kitchen aid mixer at a garage sale. It think it just may have been our best find! How to Make Homemade Pasta
It is very simple to make and tastes so much better than store-bought varieties! Plus did you know most store-bought pasta contains preservatives and are packaged in nitrogen to extend shelf life. So before your tomato plants start producing by the bushels, here is how to make your own delicious homemade pasta.
Easy Homemade Pasta
There are tons of pasta recipes out there. But if you are just trying your hand at homemade pasta here is a simple egg noodle pasta recipe.
I mixed mine in a bread machine because it was handy. But you could easily just throw your ingredients in a mixer.
Easy Homemade Pasta
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 4 Tablespoons water, warm
- 1 Tablespoon exta virgin Olive Oil
- 2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Semolina Flour for the authentic Italian taste
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together.I mixed mine in a bread machine because it was handy. But you could easily just throw your ingredients in a mixer. If you are using a breach machine just select dough cycle and press start. Set a time for 10 minutes. (this dough is not suitable for a delay timer)
- Form the dough into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
HINT: The dough can also be refrigerated for up to 3 days. - To roll out your pasta you have a couple choices. Your can use a rolling pin and pizza slicer to cut pasta by hand on a floured surface. Or you can use a kitchen gadget to speed up the process and get more uniform pasta by using a hand crank pasta maker . This actually goes really quickly!
- You can dry your pasta by laying it on a clean counter or surface covered with parchment paper or using a pasta drying rack.Let the pasta air dry at least 20 minutes before cooking or freezing.
- Now that your pasta had dried, just bring a pot of water to a boil. Add 1 TAB olive oil and 1 1/2 teas salt to season the pasta. Now boil pasta for 2-3 minutes, strain, and serve.

We like to use this is a super easy and incredibly delicious homemade pasta sauce recipe. You’ll never buy store bought sauce again! There you have it. An amazingly delicious homemade pasta dinner your family will love.
Homemade Meat Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 lb ground beef grass-fed is best!
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 4 cloves garclic minxed
- 1 small pepper any color
- 32 ounces tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons oregano dried or fresh
- 2 teaspoons basil dried or fresh
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar optional, but rounds out the flavor
Instructions
- In olive oil cook beef, onion, garlic, and pepper until meat is cooked through. Add tomato sauce and seasoning. Simmer until ready to serve.
