In a saucepan over medium-high heat mix the butter, corn syrup and brown sugar until it comes to a boil (about 8 minutes):

How to make caramel chex mix

Continue cooking while boiling for 1 minute; remove from heat and mix in 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.

Mix together  9 cups of corn square cereal & 9 cups of rice square cereal and spread in 2 parchment paper lined pans.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 9 cups corn cereal
  • 9 cups rice cereal
  • 1 cup M & M, nuts, etc.

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat mix the butter, corn syrup and brown sugar until it comes to a boil (about 8 minutes):

  • Mix together rice and corn square cerealand spread in 2 parchment paper lined pans.
  • Pour caramel syrup over chex cereal and gently toss to mix, but not smash cereal. Bake 45 minutes at 250 F (Mixing once)
  • Add 1 cup nuts and 1 cup M & M  and break apart caramel snack mix. Store in air tight container.
