Summer Reading Logs

A great way to help you and your child track the books they are reading during the summer is a book log. Reading logs are great for public, private, and homeschooled children.

 

Reading Incentive Ideas

  • King or Queen for the Day – when your child reads the number you set (25 or so) you make a crown and let them be the King or Queen for the day

  • Treasure Chest – Fill a treasure chest with inexpensive items from the party store, Target dollar section, stickers, etc. and let your child pick a prize every 1, 5, or 10 books they read.
  • Coupon – Give your child a coupon for staying up late, picking what’s for dinner, pick the movie for movie night, etc.
  • Special Event – If your child reads 100 books for the summer take them to the movies, throw a party, go to an indoor water park for the night, have a picnic at the park, have 100 balloons, etc.
