Snowman Wreath

Make this adorable paper plate snowman to make a creative and unique snowman craft for preschoolers, toddlers, kindergartners, and grade 1 students. This is such a fun winter craft for kids! Plus this makes a precious keepsake craft.

The supplies needed are:

  • Paper Plate
  • Scissors
  • Construction paper: Black, Red, Blue, Orange, White
  • White Yarn
  • Cotton Balls
  • Glue
  • Hot Glue

Snowman Craft

Start out by cutting the center of the paper plate out to create the wreath look. Put a dot of hot glue on the back and attach the tail end of a piece of yarn. Begin to wrap the yarn around the paper plate ring. We kept the yarn attached to the skein because we weren’t sure how long we would need it.

Wrapping should be secure but not too tight. If it is too tight it will change the shape of the paper plate. But you don’t want it to lose that it looks ragged either. We covered half the paper plate ring with the yarn, then glued the other tail on the back of the ring as well. My daughter said the yarn covered part was the snowman’s sweater.

HINT: If you want the top half of yarn to be the weather it can be any color you like.

The bottom half of the paper plate ring, we used cotton balls to make it look fluffier.

We added the other parts with construction paper:

  • Head: white circle
  • Hat, Eyes & Mouth: black
  • Belt on hat: red
  • Nose: orange
  • Scarf: Blue (added decorations with marker)

We attached all these pieces with hot glue as well, but white glue might work also. How fun is he? We will probably hang this on the front door, when it turns a bit chillier or upon our first snow.
