All you need to try this fun winter project are a few simple materials:

• coffee filters
• washable markers
• spray bottle
• scissors

Start by adding colors to your coffee filters.

I think it works best if you use a 2-4 colors in the same basic color group. Too many and they will could become a brown color when the chromatography part happens.

Snowflake craft

Put your coffee filter on a plate or tray. Spray the coffee filter with water. You don’t need a lot, you just want enough so the colors start to blend.

Now allow your coffee filter to dry before making the snowflakes.

HINT: If you leave the coffee filter on the plate to dry it will absorb more of the color. If you want more dreamy pastel colors you can move the coffee filter to dry on a covered surface.

Once your coffee filters have dried it’s time to make the snowflakes! I love how pretty and almost dreamy the colors turned out!

Now fold your colored coffee filters in half, then quarters, then fold again. Once they are small wedges, use scissors to carefully cut out little wedges, triangles, etc from the slice.
