Mini Pies

This idea to make mini pies using mason jar lids is SO clever!  Have you ever wanted to make a mini pie crust? I know I have! But I’ve been unwilling to buy lots of mini pie pans. Here is a simple, clever and inexpensive way to bake your own MINI Pies! You can make any kind of homemade individual pies you can think of quickly and easily! From individual mini chicken pot pies, mini cherry pie, mini apple pie, mini pumpkin pie, mini banana pie, or anything else you can dream of!

Use this with one of our yummy recipes like peach pie recipe, delicious cherry pie recipes, favorite apple pie recipes, perfect pumpkin pie recipe, plus we have lots more good recipes to choose from!

Mini pie crust

  • 2 cups flour
  • ¾ teas salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening (I use blue crisco)
  • 7-8 TAB ice-cold water

Cut shortening into flour and salt. Add water and combine until it holds it shape when pressed.

Roll out, making sure not to over roll as that will make it less flaky.

Now put mason jar lids on cookie sheet.

Press cut pie crust in canning jar lids and press to fit.  Fill with your favorite pie filling:

How to make individual pies

Put a second circle of dough on the top and pinch top and bottom crust to seal. use a fork to make edges pretty and cut a slit for the steam to escape.

Bake 20-25 minutes at 375 F.

Allow to cool then pop out of mason jar lid for a handheld pie or a special personalized pie for dessert or holiday meal! Yum!
