You can use egg whites, but I prefer to seperate my own eggs. You need 1 1/2 cups of egg whites, that is 12-18 large eggs seperated.

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
What does beat egg whites until stiff peaks form mean?
Beating egg whites is the process of whipping them until they’re aerated and fluffy, which helps create volume in your baked goods. To achieve those perfect stiff peaks, you start with clean, room-temperature egg whites in a mixing bowl. It’s essential that there’s no trace of yolk, as even a tiny bit of fat can hinder the whipping process. Using a mixer, begin beating at a low speed to start incorporating air. As the egg whites begin to froth, increase the speed to medium-high.
After a few minutes, you’ll notice the mixture transitioning from frothy to soft peaks. Keep beating until the egg whites turn shiny and form stiff peaks. So, what exactly are stiff peaks? They are formed when you lift the whisk or beaters out of the egg whites, and the peaks hold their shape without collapsing. This means they’re ready to be folded into your batter or piped onto desserts!

Mix in cream of tartar, vanilla extract, and almond extract.

Sift together flour, sugar, and salt.
Why sift ingredients? Sifting ingredients in cooking helps to remove lumps, mix ingredients evenly, and incorporate air for a lighter texture. It’s a simple step that can improve your dish!

Gently fold flour mixture into beaten egg whites.

There are so many ways to serve up an angel food cake!
- Fresh Berries Galore: This is one of the most common ways to serve an Angel food Cake – and my favorite! Stack it high with a mix of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. A sprinkle of powdered sugar on top makes it even more tempting!
- Lemon Curd Bliss: Drizzle tangy lemon curd over the cake for a refreshing twist. It pairs perfectly with whipped cream for a summer treat!
- Chocolate Ganache Drizzle: Melt some chocolate and pour it over the top for a rich, indulgent finish. You can even add chocolate shavings for extra pizzazz!
- Whipped Cream Wonderland: Serve your cake with a generous dollop of freshly whipped cream. Add a touch of vanilla or almond extract for a flavor boost!
- Fruit Compote: Cook down your favorite fruits with a bit of sugar and lemon juice to create a warm compote. Spoon it over each slice for a homemade touch!
- Peanut Butter and Banana: Spread peanut butter over each slice and top with fresh banana slices for a fun and filling twist!
- Caramel Drizzle: Warm some caramel sauce and drizzle it over the top. It creates a sweet and gooey finish that’s hard to resist!
- Yogurt and Honey: For a healthier option, swap whipped cream for Greek yogurt and drizzle with honey. Top with nuts for extra crunch!
- Ice Cream Delight: Turn your cake into a sundae! Serve slices topped with a scoop of ice cream and your favorite toppings—chocolate, nuts, sprinkles, you name it!
- Mini Angel Food Cups: Cut the cake into small cubes, skewer them with berries, and serve in cups for an adorable, bite-sized treat!
