Sheep Life Cycle for Kids

A sheeps life cycle starts with a gestation period of around 145 days, a female sheep gives birth to one or two lambs. After the birth, the ewe will lick her lamb clean. The lamb will then stand up to nurse. Lambs are usually weaned from their mothers at around two to four months of age. A female sheep is a known as a ewe. They are usually able to breed from about six months of age. A male sheep is known as a ram. They are usually able to breed from around four to six months of age. Depending on the breed of sheep, rams usually have horns.
