Platypus Life Cycle
Have you ever wondered about the fascinating life cycle of the platypus? These unique creatures start their life as tiny eggs, which the female platypus incubates by curling up around them to keep them warm. After about ten days, the young platypuses hatch, blind and hairless, but with sharp claws to help them navigate their surroundings. Over the next few months, the young platypuses, known as puggles, stay in their burrows with their mother, feeding on her milk until they are old enough to venture out on their own. As they grow, their thick fur and webbed feet develop, making them perfectly suited for a life both on land and in the water. At around eight months old, the juvenile platypuses start to hunt for their own food, primarily feasting on insects, larvae, and small shrimp. They will continue to perfect their hunting skills as they grow into adulthood, reaching sexual maturity at around two years old.
