Bug Sight Words Game (K-2nd)

Bug Sight Word Reading Game for Kindergarten, 1st Grade, & 2nd Grade

I wanted to make a fun way for Goofy to practice/learn sight words. So as we were having an I is for Insect week  - I made a Bug Reading Game.  He had a LOT of fun & got lots of great practice too!

Directions:

Simple print them in color on cardstock and then cut apart the squares.

Now put them in a bag, or if you have a bug catcher like we did – use that! I got ours at the Target dollar section!!

Then on your turn draw a bug. If you read the word correctly you get to keep it. If you get a bee you get stung & you ‘drop’ all your other bugs. You now have 0. The object is to have the most bugs at the end of the game. HINT: If you have kids in multiple ages try printing the bug cards on different color cardstock so children will pick the correct color (difficulty) words.

    9. Found this through Pinterest... looks lovely for my beginning reader. I will have to watch for a bug-catcher at Target or the dollar store for the cards, because she'd adore that. Thank you so much!

    12. Printed out this game for my kids and they love it! Just wondering if it is possible to get a "blank" sheet with just the bugs so we can add our own words, my kids school has some sight words that are not included in any of the bugs and I wanted to add them to the mix! :-)

    13. This was great. I even did the different colors and made a set of my own by hand drawing them on some construction paper. That set was the alphabet for my preschooler.
