Happy 1st day of February!! This year I made a countdown to Valentine’s day using scripture about love (I got the idea to use scripture from Catholic Icing). To spruce ours up a little and to make it into a craft the kids & I made a fun tissue paper heart at the top. You can go to Catholic Icing to get a free download for the scripture or quickly make your own by visiting one of these sites (What Christians Want to KnowBible Study Tool, or Heavens Inspiration) You can even make the links look like hearts like we did – isn’t that too cute?!

Okay, on to the craft/top of the countdown. I think everyone knows this trick, but my kids were impressed =-) If you don’t know you fold a paper in half & cut it out like the first side (like a tear drop) and then open it up & you have an even heart – TADA!)

Then you cut squares of tissue paper. Put a square on the back of a pencil & push up, dip in glue, and put on your heart.

Here is Minnie starting the heart she made with me. Using the tissue paper like this produces a nice textured heart.

Goofy tried it, but then told me he had a BETTER idea =-) Here is his finished product – he loves blue, can you tell?!?
