This rocket craft is kept super simple, it even includes a space craft template which makes it so much easier. All you have to do is to grab the free template at the end of this post, download and print it. Then follow the instructions below step-by-step on how to create the rocket craft and you’re all set! Whether you are a parent, teacher, or homeschoolers, you will love this craft is great if you’re doing a space theme for preschoolers. Rocket Craft
Supplies
- Template (free printable)
- Colored cardstock
- Paint, color pencils or crayons
- Paintbrush
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Space craft for kids
Step 1: Download and print the free template at the end of this post.
Step 2: From the template, cut out the individual elements. Now you have two options:
- Trace them onto colored cardstock and cut out the pieces. (this is the option we choose and share below)
- Color the free rocket printable
The best part about this activity, is that the learners can choose whatever colors they like for the different parts. This encourages creativity and gives them more freedom when crafting.
Space craft ideas
Step 3: Glue the pointy end of the rocket onto the tip. Two contrasting colors would work best for this.
Step 4: Glue on the windows onto the rocket body.

Step 5: Glue the flame or fire part to the bottom of the rocket. This could be in red to represent the fire.
Step 6: To complete the fire look, glue on the orange part.
Step 7: Glue on the two fin parts onto either side of the rocket.

Step 8: Glue on the strip above the flame to add a decorative touch to the rocket.
