I LOVE music!! My favorite subject in school was choir. I LOVE to sing (that may be an understatement) and I am a VERY proud Alto (although I sang Tenor when needed). I also play the flute and dabbled with the piano, guitar, trumpet, and clarinet. Can you tell I love music? So it should be no surprise that I want my kids to not only love listening to music, but appreciate it as well.
So we listen to music (here are some of our favorites – but any by these artists are great!):
Read fun books about music (our favorite is Tubby the Tuba which includes a listening CD with fantastic music!)
And love to play with musical instruments from our band or that we’ve made:
Music History for your Homeschool

This year Goofy & I have been working through Color the Classics. This program is AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend it whole heartedly (nope, I do not get any money or even a discount for saying so =-) You get a coloring book with about 6 illustrations per composer and a CD. The idea is that you:
- - Read the short page of information about the illustration as your child looks at the picture
- - Your child colors the illustration while listening to music composed by that composer.
- - The multi-sensory experience will help your child retain more of what he’s learned because he is hearing information, coloring illustration about the information, and hearing the music all at the same time. By the time you finish 6 lessons hearing the musical style & learning new facts about the composers life each time your child will retain much of what they learn.
At library story time the other day we looked up and announced to me that the music playing in the background was Tchaikovsky. He was right, the librarian was impressed, and I was so thrilled!!There are 6 books in the series: {$19.95 for the book & ~60 minute CD) – We are completing 1 book + some Christmas + some Patriotic Classics each year for a 4 year rotation
- Godly Composers I - Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, and Haydn
- Composers II - Telleman, Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Dvorak
- Composers III - Beethoven, Strauss,Jr., Brahms and Tchaikovsky
- Hymns Writers - Luther, Watts, Wesley, Newton, and Crosby
- Patriotic Classics - Yankee Doodle, The Star Spangled Banner, My Country 'Tis of Thee, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and America the Beautiful
- Christmas Carols - 13 Christmas Carols
You are allowed to make photo copies for use with your own children!! So I can use this with all my childrenNow on to the {free} Music Lapbook I made to round-out my kids music education =-)

ReplyDeletethis is really cool! thanks so much for sharing...and for FREE!
ReplyDeleteEnchanted Homeschooling Mom - The Story of the Orchestra does compliment part of the lapbook. The 1st half of that book talks about composers (which are not included in the lapbook as we use the Color the Classics I talked about in the post) and the 2nd is about instruments. Insturments / classificiation is in the lapbook, games, and worksheets. In addition the lapbook introduces music notes, cleffs, dynamics, and the classic musical story Peter & The Wolf.

ReplyDeleteHi!! Can you tell me if I'm doing something wrong. I really would like to try the music lap book but everytime I try and download it, it says that there may be viruses... it gives an option to download it anyway, but I'm afraid too. Any chance of you emailing the PDF files to me? monagibbs@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteThese resources are wonderful! Thank you for listing everything!

ReplyDeleteI like what you've done here! Any chance you could correct the typo from "cleff" to "clef"? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would love to use some of these resources in my own classroom, but there are so many misspellings! If you went back and did a revision, I'm sure you'd have many more people downloading!
ReplyDeleteI cannot get the lapbook to download. Can you please email it to me at mistydvermillion@yahoo.com?
ReplyDeleteIt won't download for me either and I get the same "viruses" warning. :( Can it be sent to me via email? Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI teach a class for 2-4 year olds, and am always looking for music/audio flashcards on the web to make the monthly topic more fun. We play games, sing songs, and match cards to pictures, and do art connected to the monthly theme. This is from my Music & Instruments theme: MUSIC (assorted games, flashcards, etc) http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/category/topics/music
ReplyDeleteSONG: 'We're in an orchestra'. http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/songs/we-are-orchestra
Kids LOVE imitating the instruments and singing/dancing to this song.
This is a beautiful lapbook and a great resource! Unfortunately there are a lot of typos throughout- cleff, trebble, etc. Would you be able to correct them? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAmazing resource. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI likewise can't download it. I've downloaded several of your other preschool packs from the google drive, so I know it's possible. Can you email it to me? elfmom03@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the work you are doing!
Just printed all 60 pages! Thank you so much for this freebie! :D
ReplyDeleteWhen I click on the link, it says it is unable to download due to viruses. Is there another way I can get these? Thank you. ktdog211@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteIt looks like due to the size a preview image is not available. If you click on download anyway it simple states that it is unable to scan for viruses. There are no viruses in the file or within Google Drive where the file is uploaded.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the file is too large to email. If you click on the link to download it appears the file states a preview image is not available due to the file size. It states that it is unable to scan for viruses. Just click down load anyway (There are no viruses in the file or within Google Drive where the file is uploaded.)
