This Ice Cream Stick Craft is a fun way to use up all the extra Popsicle sticks you’ll have this summer to create a beautiful rainbow craft.
Rainbow Craft
I, of course, learned about rainbows as a child. What I did not learn, as a child, was ROY-G-BIV. Do you know what that is? I hadn’t heard of this at all until my husband told me, so as an adult. Just in case you are in the same boat as me, ROY-G-BIV is an acronym for the colors of the rainbow and the order in which they appear.
R- Red
O- Orange
Y- Yellow
G- Green
B- Blue
I- Indigo
V- Violet
Crazy right? Acronyms can be silly but I honestly wouldn’t have been able to tell you the exact colors and order of those colors until my husband told me about ROY-G-BIV!
So in an effort to let my daughter realize the easy way to remember the colors of the rainbow and in which order, I am telling my daughter all about ROY-G-BIV while we make this beautiful, whimsical rainbow craft!
Ice Cream Stick Craft
The supplies needed for this fun rainbow craft are simple:
- Popsicle Sticks
- Watercolor Paint & Paintbrush
- Or Markers
- Glue
- White Cardstock
You can reuse summer popsicle sticks and paint 7 sticks to get one for each color of the rainbow or you can buy colored craft sticks.
Next grab a piece of white cardstock and cut out a big cloud. You could add a yellow cardstock sun too!
Glue the ice cream sticks to the back of the cloud. Let the glue dry and you are all done.
This craft stick craft is a fantastic way to learn and practice the colors and order of the colors. Children can easily memorize ROY-G-BIV with this craft hanging on their wall!!
