The 4th of July is my son’s favorite holiday. He likes it even more than Christmas! He loves the fireworks, barbecue parties, and all of the time that we get to spend together as a family. To decorate our house for the holiday, we love to make patriotic crafts like this American Flag Craft. American flag craft ideas
All you need are a few simple materials tom ake this cute american flag craft for kids:
Supplies:
- White Card Stock
- Painter’s Tape
- Red Paint
- Paint Brush
- Scissors
- Glue
- Blue Card Stock
- White Paint
- Cotton Swabs
This craft is inexpensive to create. I bought all of the items at the dollar store except for the blue card stock. If you don’t have card stock, you can use construction paper too.
Independence day craft ideas
To begin making this American flag craft, put Painter’s tape across the white card stock or other heavy white paper. If you want to make the thirteen stripes, you may need to cut the tape into smaller strips.
4th of july craft
Next, paint the white stripes with the red paint. This craft is great for young children because they don’t have to stay within the white lines.
After the paint dries, remove the Painter’s tape. You want to be careful when you take the tape off so you don’t tear the paper. After removing the tape, you have red and white stripes just like the American flag.
Then, cut a square out of the blue card stock and glue it in the corner of the white and red striped paper.
Fourth of july activities for preschoolers
Use the paint brush or cotton swabs to make fifty white stars on the blue card stock. For younger children, it may be easier for them to make dots instead of stars.
Celebrate the up-coming holiday by making this Tape Resistant American Flag Craft. It’s a simple patriotic craft and a great way to add some red, white, and blue to your house this summer.
