O Vowel Teams
When it comes to the long o sound, spelling can feel tricky! Here’s a quick guide:
- oa: Usually in the middle of a word, like boat, toast, and coach.
- ow: Most common at the end of words, like snow, row, and throw. There are exceptions, such as flown and bowl, where ow appears in the middle.
- oe: The least common, usually at the end of short words like toe, foe, and compound words like mistletoe.

- Christmas tree shapes printed on cardstock (decorate if you like!)
- Word cards featuring oa, ow, and oe words
- Laminator (optional, but helpful for reuse)
Christmas activity for kindergarten
Word Match:
- Lay out the Christmas tree cards.
