Female inventors
These mini books contain one cover page that children can decorate their own. After this, there are multiple pages all about the Female Inventors to add behind this. While reading these books, children will learn about twelve inventors including:
- Anna Connelly – The first woman to follow an invention patent. She invented the exterior staircase.
- Barbara Askins – worked for NASA and developed ways to improve faint photos.
- Bessie Nesmith – invented liquide paper (known as white out)
- Josephine Cochrane – came up with the first automatic dish washer
- Joy Mangano – invented many things like a self-wringing mop, clothes it all luggage, shade readers, and more
- Maria Beasley Cox – invented many things such as foot warmer, roasting pan, and collapsible liferaft.
- Marion Donovan – came up with over 20 inventions including resusable, water proof diaper cover, soap drainer, circluar flossing devise, and others
- Martha Coston – invented signal flairs
- Mary Anderson – first functioning windshield wipers controlled by inside the car
- Ruth Handler – Barbie doll
- Ruth Wakefield – chocolate chip cookie
- Stephanie Kwolek – came up with Kevlar which is 5x stronger than steel and used in bullet proof vests, tires, space suits, golf clubs, and more!
Famous female inventors
These two printable books are completely in blackline which is not only great for printing, but also a fun way for kids to get creative by decorating the images however they desire. Children can use crayons, markers, colored pencils, gel pens, etc. to color in their books.
There are two different books, with one book being a more simple version of the other. This one is aimed at younger children, while the more in-depth one is aimed at older children. Extra pages for children to write on could also be added, after reading books and researching more on this topic.
