These 32 different clip cards are a fun states of matter activities for kids learning about solids, liquids, and gas. Each card in this states of matter printable has a different, easily identifiable picture. Under the main picture are three boxes with a state of matter written in them. One of the three will be the correct state of matter that corresponds with the main picture. Whether you are a parent, teacher, or homeschooler – you will love using this handy resource in your lesson plan about matter. This is great for children who are just dipping their toes into learning about the different states of matter or for those which need practice to reiterate what they already know. We like to use this solid liquid gas activities as part of our states of matter lesson plans for kindergartners, grade 1, grade 2, grade 3, grade 4, grade 5, and grade 6 students.

These cards will need to be cut out and laminated for durability.
States of matter lesson plan
I put the cards in a pile and have my child grab one card at a time. We have used many different types of manipulatives, not just clothes pins. Some of our favourites include:

Solid liquid gas activity
I have my child state what each of the pictures are: balloon, airplane, juice, milk, pencil. Then I ask them to name which state of matter they think it is. If they don’t know, we go through each one separate. We put the manipulative on the clip card and move to the next. We do this until all of the cards have been completed.
