Water Cycle Explanation for Kids
So what is the water cycle? The water cycle is the path that all water follows as it moves around Earth in different states.
- When the clouds can’t hold anymore water, they let it go. Precipitation is water that falls to the Earth in the form of rain, snow, sleet or hail. When it reaches the ground, this precipitation collects in rivers, streams, lakes and oceans.
- Condensation occurs when water is cooled, changing it from a gas to a liquid. These liquid droplets join together to form clouds.
- Water is evaporated when it it heated by the sun and changes from a liquid to a gas.

To create this water cycle book, children will need a copy of the cover page and the four pages – evaporation, condensation, precipitation and the water cycle – that are to be stapled on after the cover. Children will also need a copy of the page that contains the information about each part of the water cycle. Older children may research the water cycle themselves and instead of cutting and pasting in the information, they can write it in the circle on each page themselves.
