Now you just wait for a week. The hardest and most important part of this experiment is to remember to keep the plant watered. Geraniums like warm weather, a sunny spot, and moist soil.

At the end of a week, carefully pull off all the paper shapes. What do you notice?

The green from plant leaves comes from a chemical called chlorophyll. This chemical is produced during photosynthesiswhen the plant uses the sun light to produce their own food. In this experiment we had part of the leaves covered leaving only part of the leaves exposed to the light. The parts that were covered were not able to absorb sunlight to make chlorophyll (green pigment) and thus they are much lighter green, yellow, or white.

Don’t worry. The plant is okay and will flourish if you keep watering it and keeping it in a bright sunny plant.
