Sight Word Readers

As children learn to read, they need to develop a variety of skills including phonemic awareness, identifying beginning sounds, and phonics to sound words together. But another important part is learning sight words. Sight words are words that don’t typically follow the rules of phonics, but make up 50-75% of most written text!  These are important words for preschool, pre k, kindergarten, and first grade students to memorize. One of the ways we make learning sight words fun, is by including lots of sight word readers for them to practice the new words they’ve learned. These free printable readers, inspired by Disney Tangled and Disney movie Brave are prefect for young readers!

Free Printable Readers

Start by scrolling to the bottom of the post, under the terms of use, and click on the text link that says >> Download <<. The pdf file will open in a new window for you to save the freebie and print the pages.
I suggest printing the pages front and back, in color,  and on cardstock for durability. Then simply stack up and fold the pages in half to make your child a princess book to help them practice reading sight words.

Princess Sight Words Readers

Recently we were at the store and Minnie was eyeing a princess early reader featuring Tangled and Merida. Unfortunately, they only came at a Level 2 and she most definitely doesn’t know all those words. Since I want to continue encouraging her reading and keep her practicing, I decided to whip up these two sight word books for her.

The pre k sight word books have beautiful pictures and clipart to grab their attention, a simple story line, and lots of sight words to practice! We’ve included images along with the text to help with the tricky story words so your child won’t get discouraged!

    Hello. I have been trying to print this book for my daughter, but no matter what I try, I get the logo all over the pages when it prints! Am I doing something wrong?

    1. Let me see if I can help Brandi! So you need to download the pdf (from link at bottom of page). Then from the downloaded copy click print. You will see in the preview window that the logo is gone! It is just to prevent scrapping. Enjoy
