Children need to read a lot – like at least 30 minutes a day to develop fluency. Reading is one of those skills that just takes practice. The best way I’ve found to help kids want to read it so make it fun! Sight words are trick for kids because they cannot be sounded out with phonics, you just need to memorize, learn and become fluent with these words. These sight words make up 75% of written language! Using sight word printables can help kids get extra practice and seeing them incontext with sight word readers is a great way to reinforce reading while mastering these key dolche sight words. Because I have a few princess fans at my house, I decided I needed to use princess printables for this sight word activities! We have a different story for each level, each inspired by Disney princesses who my daugthers adore. These free printable sight word books are based on the Dolch Sight Words and contain increasingly complex vocabulary.
