You only need a couple simple supplies to try this summer craft for kids:

  • muffin tins [they will NOT get ruined]
  • pony beads, any kind. The translucent pony beads will work better for a sun catchers, but the neon pony beads are more dramatic. So depending if you want a sculpture, a sun catcher, or a mobile you decide how see through you want them to be.

No fill your containers. We made some mini muffin tin, regular muffin size, and mini loaf pans. We wanted a variety of shapes.

Cook at 400 F for about 30 minutes.  Cool, right?

HINT: Although we ddn’t have any issue with smells, you are melting plastic, so make sure you are in a well ventilated room, are under contsant adult supervision, and use common sense.

If you want to hang your project as a suncatcher, make sure you stick a straw in your creation before it dries. When it starts to set, pull the straw off OR you can leave it until it completely cools and cut the straw down to size so it is barely visible.

After they have cooled completely they will slide right out [no greasing your sheet!]
