Homophones first grade

This homophone game is a great way for kids to start listening for words that sound the same. Next, talk to kids about what each of the word means. For an extension activity you can have students write the words in the puzzle and draw a picture or write a description of what the word means.

Homophone for Kids

Kids will have fun putting together puzzle pieces of the words that are homophones. To play on your own simply read the puzzle pieces and put them together to make pencils.
If you prefer to play in a group you can put all the pieces upside down in a pile. Give each player 5 pieces they will hold (and keep hidden from the group). If they have any pieces that match they can put them down in front of them. Players will continue around clockwise asking another player if they have the word (say the name of one of the pieces they have like old maid). If they don’t they say draw up. Player will draw from the pile. Continue playing until there are no pieces not put together. The player with the most completed pencils wins.
