Painted Pine Cone Turkey Craft for Kids

You will love making an adorable Pine Cone Turkey to decorate your home in the fall. This Thanksgiving craft for kids is perfect for toddler, preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade students. This pinecone turkey craft only uses a few simple materials you probably already have on hand to make your November crafts for kids! You will probably want to make a whole flock of turkey crafts.

We love using pine cones for our winter and Christmas crafts, but my daughter was begging to make Thanksgiving craft ideas this week. I wasn’t sure what to do that we hadn’t already done, but then I saw my pile of pine cones in the closet waiting for me to use. Hey, that looks like a turkey body! So off to crafting a pine cone turkey we went. This super cute and EASY pine cone turkey is the perfect  November craft ideas for kids.

We used some easy craft supplies that you may have in your house already.

• Pine Cone
• Paint (Yellow, Red & Orange)
• Q-Tip
• Felt (Tan, Orange & Red)
• Hot Glue
• Googly Eyes

Pinecone turkey craft

The pine cone makes a perfect body shape of a turkey, but we needed the feathers to be colored. We chose paint. We put the paint on a paper plate and used q-tips to fill in the pine cone ‘leaves’ with color. You could use a paint brush too, but the q-tip was perfect for getting into the little crevices of the pine cone.

Thanksgiving pine cone crafts

While the paint is drying, you can cut the felt for this pine cone turkey crafts for preschoolers. We used this for the face, beak and the wattle (the dangly red thing).

We glued them on with hot glue. White glue might work, but I could see the felt sliding off the pine cone before the glue dried.

Turkey Crafts for Kids

We glued on the googly eyes next. How cute, right? And so easy.

These would be super cute as name cards next to each place setting on Thanksgiving! Or to set in between the serving trays of food. Did anyone else just get really hungry??
