Spring is such a fun time! With baby animals, flowers, and the bees buzzing it sure is a lovely time of the year. And what a better way to enjoy spring than to pair it up with some fun educational printables! These bee themed 2D shape clip cards are a great way to do just that! In this shape matching activity, preschoolers and kindergartners will practice identifying shapes with a reusable shape activity.  Use this spring math activity in a spring math center or as a quick shape recognition activity for extra practice. Your learners will also love these Spring 2D shape sorting mats.

Shape Clip Cards

This printable is a low prep activity printable which I absolutely LOVE! That means no cutting out odd shaped bits, just straight lines. To prep this printable, you will require the following things:
  • Printer
  • Laminator
  • Clothespin
  • Free printable (fileat the end of this post)
First, print the pages. You can choose to print the printable in color or a printer-friendly black and white version. Laminate if required. This is recommended if you are using the printable with multiple learners. Provide your learners with wooden clothespin or other suitable manipulatives. You can opt to store these shape clip cards in a task card box for easy storage.

Shape activities for kindergarten

Present your learners with the task cards and clothespin. Learners will identify the 2D shape of the bee hive and name the shape. They will then use the wooden clothespin to clip the corresponding shape at the bottom of the clip card. In this way, learners will go through all 13 2D shapes, and work their way through all the shapes.
