Shape wheel activity
This hands-on learning shapes activity is a fun way for toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and grade 1 students to learn 2d shapes: oval, trapezoid, hexagon, rectangle, triangle, square, circle and octagon. This shape printable gives children fine motor practice as they manipulate the wheels to match the shapes, shape words and real life shapes. Plus older students can practice reading the shape words by sounding out the beginning letters. This shape activity is a great way to sneak in some fun learning to your day! Use this shape matching as extra practice, classroom center, or supplement to your homeschool curriculum.
Free printable matching shapes worksheets

The match the same shapes pdf file will open in a new window for you to save your freebie. Now print off the Shape Matching Wheels. This pack consists of two different wheels that come in both color and black and white versions.
Shapes and Their Names
Print the color or black and white page onto cardstock. Cut out the 3 circles, punch a hole in the center dots and attach with a brad or split pin.
If using the black and white versions, use crayons, marker, or colored pencils to color the shapes.
Shape Activities
There are several versions to this activity depending on your students age and abilities:
- match the shapes with the objects (black and white)
- Color match the shapes with objects
- Crab match the same shapes in color
- match the similar shapes (black and white)
