Letter G Preschool Crafts
We continued to fill up our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree with a new craft foam letter. Introducing….. our goat letter G!
Letter G worksheets
We used the {free} Uppercase Letters Color & Trace Pack I shared a while back to practice building a letter G with stickers, strengthening her little fingers by coloring, and then she began making the letter G on her own.
Then we used our CUISENAIRE RODS to build G’s and pictures starting with the letter G from Cuisenaire Rods Alphabet Book: Problem Solving A to Z. It is such a wonderful, gentle math activity for Preschool or Kindergartners.
Farm Worksheets
As a contributor at Free Homeschool Deals I shared a {free} Farm Pack that was perfect for this unit. Here are some of the learning activities we did from this preschool pack.
Mini practiced counting 1-to with this simple farm puzzle. We also matched heads and tail of the different farm animals and matched them up to the Toob Farm Animals we had.
Minnie and I practiced graphing by rolling the dice template found in the pack to find out what animals the farmer had the most of. The chickens were the winners. This is one of Minnie’s favorite activities from my packs! Then we did one of my favorite activities – Add them up! We rolled two dice and we added up the numbers and then used our magnets to cover up the number we rolled. We took turns to find out who could cover the most numbers. This is such great counting practice and a wonderful introduction to addition. Yeah for fun math activities!
We used our number clip circle a little different this time. I put the paper on a cookie sheet and had her use the correct number of magnets to correlate with the number of farm items in each section. This was a fun way to use this sheet a little differently and still get in some great math practice for my preschooler. For the first time Minnie & I did a Preschool Report. We used the Goat book I shared above and Minnie dictated to me things to include in our report. Then she drew a picture of a goat. I can’t believe my preschooler is getting to smart and capable – she is so ready for Kindergarten – YIKES!
Goat Activities
Three billy goats gruff activities
For our goat craft for kids we made the three Billy Goats Gruff out of construction paper, pipe cleaner, googly eyes, and clothespins. Then the kids retold the story. Then the kids went on and played with the goats for about an hour. I love our carefree homeschooling days!
Goat Books for Kids
- Goats is a great informational book about goats that is super simple for Preschool or Kindergarten with nice pictures.
- The Year at the Maple Hill Farm introduces the concept of time including months and seasons in this interesting book showing what goes on at a farm month by month.
- Mr. Grumpy’s Outing is a fictional story with soft illustrations and a fun flow.
- One of my favorites was Beatrice’s Goat. It is the story of a family in Africa who receives the gift of a goat (you know the kind you can buy through World Vision). It tells how the goat improved their life in so many ways. This was especially moving for Minnie as our family gave this exact gift last year at Christmas. She was so excited to really grasp why we gave a goat!
- We couldn’t have a complete unit about goats without reading the classic tale The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We choose to read the edition by one of our favorite children’s author Paul Galdone.
