It’s that time of year again when our crafts turn to Turkey’s and our attention goes to helping our kids develop grateful hearts by remembering all the things we are thankful for. Here is our Handart Turkey Craft and Thanksgiving Activity for kids.
Thankful Turkey Hand Art
These Thankful Turkey Hand Art are one of my favorite Thanksgiving crafts we’ve made. They are not only super cute, but a great way to help kids reflect on what they are thankful for!
First trace your kiddos hand on a light brown/tan piece of paper. Then paint each of their fingers (not the thumb) a different fall / turkey feather color. Have your kiddo place their hands back over their traced hand. No need to be perfect! Let it dry.
Now cut out the hand. Give your child an orange beak and red turkey gobble thing (anyone know that that is called?!) to paste on their turkey. You can attach google eyes or just make an eye using a pen/marker/crayon.
Here’s Minnie with her completed turkey. Isn’t he cute?!
What are you thankful for? Thanksgiving Kids Activity
Then I talked with the kids about the many things we have to be thankful for. The kids then picked 5 things (one for each finger) they were especially thankful for this year and we wrote them on the back of their turkeys. I wrote their name and age on the back as well. Now I have a beautiful keepsake craft and using a little play dough as a base – a Thanksgiving table decoration too!
Thanksgiving Centerpieces Kids Can Make
Here is our Thanksgiving spread from last year. Can you find our cute little turkeys on the table? The kids got such a kick out of seeing their turkeys on the table and my husband enjoyed talking about what the kids were thankful for during our meal.
