Summer is the time for road trips! The sun is out, the roads are open and sparkly and it’s time to go and explore the world one stop at a time. Are you on this train? What comes to my mind is ‘it’s all fun and games until you have kids’. With kids, road trips become a whole different ball game. When kids are in the picture, a road trip is no longer care free and on a whim. Road trip with kids actually takes planning and coming up with car friendly, travel activities for kids that will keep them entertained and dare I say calm for at least a handful of hours. These free road trip printables come in handy with your preschoolers, kindergartners, grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3 kiddos.

My suggestion would be to print off one set for each child going on the road trip with you. Next I would laminate the sheets. This can be done double sided, by placing two papers, back sides together and laminating. This will save on space and laminating sheets. Laminating will allow kids to use these sheets over and over throughout the course of the road trip. This will also ensure that the activities do not get ruined with the first drink spill or crinkled in the crease of the seat.

  • If you are laminating the activities, kids can use dry erase markers or dry erase crayons with the sheets.
  • If you choose not to laminate, you can print as many copies as you think you’ll need. Kids can use markers, crayons or colored pencils with these activities.
