Do you ever need to take a few minutes to yourself to relax, regroup, enjoy a book, or simply relax? Here are some easy ways to take a break while homeschooling?
Homeschooling can be tiring! Your are wearing many hats as a wife, mother, coke, teachers, event planner, social director, and more. But you need to take a break sometimes too. Your homeschool will flow smoother if you are rested and balanced too.
Here are some great tips for how to take a break while homeschooling for those days when you just need need a moment!
Take a Break While Homeschooling
1. Take the kids to park and let them play
Taking kids to the park seems like more effort than it’s worth. It’s also a great way to take a break while homeschooling, especially if you take balls, bikes, and bubbles with you.
The children run around the park and scream. They ride bikes, throw footballs, and toss basketballs. The kids kick balls back and forth to each other. They climb on the equipment and blow bubbles everywhere.
You, on the other hand, are able to sit down on a bench. You can enjoy a good book, knit a sweater, or simply sit in peace.
2. Keep a basket of special toys
Kids collect too many toys, at least mine do. There are endless piles of Legos, dolls, dinosaurs, Duplos, blocks, stuffed animals, train tracks, and more. Children aren’t able to play with all of these toys easily.
Instead of keeping everything in the toy box or piled on shelves, put a group of toys into a basket. Guard this basket and keep it somewhere safe, somewhere the kids won’t find it. That spot could be at the top of your closet or in a storage room.
New and rarely seen toys entertain children for hours. When you’re desperate for a break, pull out this basket of goodies. The children will enjoy playing with toys they seldom see. You’ll be able to take a well-deserved break.
3. Insist on a daily quiet time
Homeschooling is intense. We’re constantly around our children and interacting with them. I don’t know about you, but I need a daily break as well. I need a few minutes to relax, read a few pages of a book, call a sister, or pay some bills.
This break will refresh you and your kids and lay the foundation for a peaceful afternoon.
With these three ways to take a homeschool break, you’ll find it easier to enjoy your homeschool. What is your favorite way to taking a break?
