I just learned how to blow out Easter Eggs a couple years ago. I think I assumed it was hard to do. But it’s not!! So step-by-step, here's how:

  • Take a nail and make a small hole in both ends of the egg (the bigger the hole the easier to blow out, but the more noticeable)

  • Take a toothpick and push in the hole to break up the egg (it helps it blow out easier); remove toothpick before blowing.March 2012 1012
  • Blow on one end. You will need a good 15-20 seconds of blowing, and a bowl to catch the egg.  (Note: Your child must be able to blow without sucking back in to blow out an egg. Consuming raw eggs can be hazardous to your health.)

  • Rinse the egg well
Why blow out an Easter Egg instead of just hard boiling them?
  • You can scramble the eggs in stead of having so many hardboiled eggs to use up! (We’ve been hard boiling 1 dozen to use in egg salad & deviled eggs AND blowing out 1 dozen to have scrambled eggs)
  • The blown out eggs can sit in a basket on your table as decorations! The kids will enjoy seeing their creations at every meal instead of being tucked into the fridge only to come out when they are to be broken
  • You can actually hide blown out eggs without fear of leaving an egg to spoil in your house or yard.
  • They float! It is fun to decorate some eggs that float nicely at the top.

  2. I've always wanted to try this! Is it difficult to poke the holes without breaking the eggs?
