Make your own puffy Gingerbread ornaments with this no fail recipe for kids to make their own holiday ornaments at Christmas. These smell amazing and last for years and years!

Ingredients
3Tablespoonsshortening
1/2cupsugar
3/4 - 1 1/2cupwater
1teaspoonbaking soda
1/2cup molasses
1teaspooncinnamon
1teaspoonginger
1teaspooncloves
3 1/2cupflour
Instructions
Mix all ingredients to the following recipe and chill dough for 3 hours to overnight.
Just roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface. Use cookie cutters to make seasonal shapes.Note: You can press red hot as buttons and raisins or peppercorns as eyes if you’d like to decorate these ornaments more “traditionally”
If making into ornaments, make sure you make a hole at the top to thread the hook into. Bake on parchment lined baking sheets at 350 F for 20 minutes.
Once cooled, use puffy paint (or acrylic paint) to add details to your gingerbread men ornaments.
