1cupgranulated sugar
1/2cupcanola oil
1largeegg
1teaspoon vanilla extract
1cupall purpose flour
1/2teaspoonbaking powder
1/2teaspoonsalt
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1/2+cupwalnuts, choppedoptional
1/2cupcaramel ice cream sauce
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 F
In a large mixing bowl, combine chopped apples, sugar, oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Once mixed, add in flour, baking powder, salt, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. If you’re a fan of a little crunch, toss in some walnuts
Pour the batter into a greased 9″ or 10″ cake pan, ensuring it’s evenly distributed. Then, place it in preheated oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick or knife inserted into the center comes out clean
While the cake is still warm in the pan, use a fork to poke small holes all over the top. This will allow the caramel to soak in beautifully. Next, pour the caramel over the hot cake and let it cool in the pan
