Crayon Playdough

I love that this crayon play dough recipe uses broken crayons so they are not wasted! This homemade playdough recipe is easy to make for toddler, preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, and up!
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Cream of Tartar
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 3/4 cup salt
- 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 crayons coarsley chopped
- 1 cup water
- food coloring optional
Instructions
- First, in a medium bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, cream of tartar and salt. Set aside.In a medium nonstick pot over medium heat, add the oil and crayon. Stir constantly until the crayon is melted. Now Add the water and food coloring (optional to intensify colors) to the pot and expect the wax to separate from the water.
- Continue to stir while adding the dry ingredients to the pot.When the dough comes together as a ball and the liquid has absorbed, transfer the dough to parchment paper on the counter and allow the dough to cool until you can handle it.
- Knead the warm dough until smooth; it will take about 2 minutes.Optional: Repeat to get a different color.
