Equipment
2 large bowls
stove top to heat water
Ingredients
1packetWatermelon Kool-aid unsweetened drink mix
1cupflour
1/2cupsalt
1cupwater
2Tablespoonscream of tartar
1TablespoonsVegetable Oil, or similar
Instructions
Start out by mixing together all the dry ingredients (minus the kool-aide) in a large bowl.
Now bring the water to a boil over medium heat. Once the water is boiling, transfer the water to a bowl and add in the oil.
Add in the combined dry ingredients. If it is still sticky once fully mixed you can add in about 1/4 cup of flour at a time. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes or until it is cool enough to handle.
Once your kool aid playdough is cool enough to handle, separate the mixture into two balls. About 1/4 of the dough will be the watermelon rind and the other 3/4ths the juicy red fruit. To keep hands clean, I like to add food coloring in a ziplock bag. Using whatever method you like, add green food dye to your smaller ball and mix together.
Add in dry black beans into the red seciont to look like seeds. Have fun shapping and playing with this watermelon activity!
