Chef Pro Tortilla Maker optional, but so helpful!
Ingredients
4cupall purpose flour
1teaspoonsalt
2teaspoonsbaking powder
2Tablespooonslard (or crisco in a pinch)
1/2cupwater
Instructions
Mix all ingredients together. Divide into 24 balls. Allow the dough to sit 30 minutes.
Put dough ball in back middle of preheated press.Close the press and press latch for 7 seconds only. It helps build up steam and flattens them nicely. But if you apply pressure too long the steam will break apart your shell. Now leave press closed (without pressing) 8 more seconds.Open the press and rotate the tortilla 90 degrees. Close and press a couple seconds then leave closed another 10 seconds.
Repeat with remaining balls, stacking up tortillas on a plate as you go - this will help keep them warm!
