A good book is a treat, isn’t it? Here are some more books that are favorite’s at our house!
"The line had been crossed! Since it had never happened before they shouted orders to one another to mount their horses and grab the nearest ammunition, which, oddly enough, turned out to be their marshmallows."
This book was written by the same authors as '>'>'>'>'>'>'>'>Cloudy with a Chance for Meatballs. In this fun, silly, absurd tale their is a town of Left and a town of Right. There is a yellow line that separates the two towns. The knights of Ambidextrous guard the line. One day the line gets crossed, marshmallows go flying, and the people realize the line was absurd! Your kids will love the silly book and wonderful tale. Ages 3-9
Have you ever had an itch that just wouldn't go away? In this funny story a Gorilla has the same problem. He tries everything all the other animals use to get rid of their itches, but none of them work. Finally, when his son wakes and climbs on his back - his itch goes away, "Son, you're just the thing for a gorilla with an itch!" Super cute! Ages 1-7
"I wanted to be a pirate forever. But then I found out what else they don't do. When I couldn't stay awake any longer, I asked Braid Beard to tuck me in and read me a story. 'Tuck you in?' he bellowed. 'Pirates don't tuck."
Arrrrr! Everyone loves a good pirate book. This is a very cute book about a a boy who find pirates. He goes along with them, but realizes even though he doesn't have to brush his teeth or eat his veggies, it isn't as great as he thought. At the end he decides maybe he'll sale with the pirates again,"but not today....I have soccer practice." Ages 2-9
This is a cute book. It shows the train going around telling of the train's travels in simple rhyme and actions words. At the end you see it is really a train going around all the toys and tunnels in a boys room. Goofy LOVES this book. He has built a track like it around his room many times! Ages 1-5
This is a fun to read book. Next to each 6 rhyming lines (ending with "snap!") is a picture of animals and a baby dressed as those animals. But your older kids will like it too, because there is more text to this book and the animal photographs are beautiful. My kids love saying the "snap!" part. Ages 2-7
This is a classic. This book is simply illustrated in black and white. It is a sweet story of a boy & a tree; when the boy is hungry, the tree produces fruit, when the boy needs wood to build a house the tree gave him wood. The boy grows up and leaves the tree, but returns as an old man and the tree gives the tired man a stump to sit on. I can see why this simple, sweet book is a classic. Ages 2-9
"Then Little Nutbrown Hare had a good idea. He tumbled upside down and reached up the tree trunk with his feet. 'I love you all the way up to my toes!' he said"
This is another childhood must-read. Sweet story or parent and child telling each other how much they love each other. Very sweet! Ages 2-8
This is a Caldecott Honor Book. This book is simple and sweet. It starts by showing you the colored cars and telling you what all the different cars are called (who knew?). Then the train goes in the night & dark, through the city, in the tunnels, etc.. The illustrations are simple and beautifully show the motion of the train. Ages 1-6
